Can Do Democracy

The Erasmus+ project Can Do Democracy empowers social workers with tools to promote active participation and democratic values.

Funded by: Erasmus+ Cooperation partnerships in adult education

Duration: 36 months (01.09.2024 – 31.08.2027)

Description:  The Erasmus+ project CAN DO Democracy aims to deepen the understanding of democracy and democratic values. It targets people working with groups in various social and educational contexts, providing them with innovative methods and approaches to foster democratic processes and promote de-radicalisation. The projects activities are particularly relevant in light of the crises people have faced in recent years (e.g. pandemics, extreme weather events, wars, and mental health concerns), which have amplified polarisation and extremism.

By offering participants the opportunity to engage with professionals from similar fields but from different countries, the project promotes inclusion, diversity, and respect through workshops based on active participation and experiential learning.

CAN DO Democracy strengthens the skills and competences of social workers who support the integration of individuals at risk of marginalisation. Furthermore, by empowering participants during the meetings, it addresses key topics related to democracy, including empowerment, diversity, anti-racism, and approaches related to trauma pedagogy and mental health. Throughout its activities and beyond, CAN DO Democracy aims to establish connections between organisations engaged in these issues, fostering in-depth knowledge, empowerment and professionalisation.
